After migration/upgrade, search does nothing

I recently migrated and upgraded a Tiki v3 installation on one server to become a Tiki v15.5 installation on another server.

I thought everything was going well; e.g., my previous wiki posts were all still there.

But then when I tried to search (using either the “quick_search” or “search” modules), I got nothing:

  • The quick_search module appeared to do absolutely nothing.
  • The “search” module did something, but not much. If I typed “unilateral” it would offer as an autocomplete suggestion: “Unilateral effects merger analysis when auctions are used”, which is the name of a wiki article. But then didn’t go to that page. If I enter a string which doesn’t exist, then I go to a completely blank page (no Tiki modules, title, logo, or anything).

So I thought that maybe I need to rebuild the index, so I went to tiki/tiki-admin.php?page=search and clicked “Rebuild Index”. But I immediately get “Abnormal termination. Unless it was killed manually, it likely ran out of memory.”

(I did specify “Enable logging”, which said that “Log file is saved as temp/Search_Indexer.log”. However, at the end there was no file public_html/tiki/temp/Search_Indexer.log

Any ideas what my problem is?

Thanks in advance!
