Adding a PayPal Donation Module

posts: 4 United States

I wanted to let people donate to the wiki site I started, using Paypal.

So using the Adsense2 module as an inspiration, I constructed a Paypal2 module.
This new module is composed of 2 files. They are

mod-paypal2.php and mod-paypal2.tpl

And where ~WIKIHOME is the directory location where your Wiki lives.

The file mod-paypal2.php which goes in the directory ~WIKIHOME/modules is just a basic copy with slight modifications of the original Adsense2.php file. This site does not allow HTML in the post, so you will have to look at the attached file to see the contents.

The file mod-paypal2.tpl which goes in the directory ~WIKIHOME/templates/modules will contain the code you get from Paypal for your 'donation button'.
The contents of the file should look something like this.....

{* hardwired version of paypal module *}
{tikimodule title="{tr}Paypal Donation{/tr}" name="paypal2" flip=$module_params.flip decorations=$module_params.decorations}
Replace this RED text with your Paypal Button code, from < center> to < /center>,
and you don't need any of the blank lines that are above or below the red text.
I was not able to remove them in this example.
{/tikimodule}

Go to Admin home/Modules and create a module for paypal2, and you are all done!
It is that easy.

Thanks stewartr!

Paypal has a subscription feature. Any idea how we could tie that into Tiki groups & permissions?

So if someone pays a subscription, his username is added to a group. And when the membership expires, the user is removed from the group. These users would have access to special section on a site...

What do you think?

Sounds interesting, but I have no idea. I am a real newbie to tikiwiki.
If someone knows, let us hope they also post.
