History: Tiki vs MoinMoin
Preview of version: 11
Note: the main language of MoinMoin is Python, not javascript. Ohloh is (mis)counting the inclusion of FCKeditor (used for WYSIWYG editing). Also, number of contributors is higher than on the chart because it happens that some devs will commit patches for others.

Similar
- Both are community managed free and open source web applications with a powerful wiki.
- Both support Wiki markup. Please see (if) Why Wiki Syntax Is Important to your project.
Different
- MoinMoin uses files for storage whereas Tiki uses the MySQL database. In future versions, MoinMoin will have a DB storage option.
- MoinMoin is in Python whereas Tiki is in PHP.
- MoinMoin is focused on being a great Wiki (which it is!), whereas Tiki is more of a Content Management System / general purpose wiki.
- MoinMoin is GPL, Tiki is LGPL. The main difference between the GPL and the LGPL is that the latter can be linked to (in the case of a library, 'used by') a non-(L)GPLed program, which may be free software or proprietary software.
