Add Category to Question/Answer

Hi everybody,

I am very new french user to tikiwiki 🙄. and I currently make some trials with the FAQ feature.
One of my requisite is to be able to attach keywords to each FAQ item (Question / Answer : Q&A).
I can add categories to a whole FAQ, but no way for each Q&A, to help for quick search.
This does not seem to be possible, and I do not find an admin entry for that.

So, is it possible to add such a new feature, by modifying some templates ❓
Should it be enough to copy/paste corresponding lines from FAQ input template onto Question/Answer one ?
What will happen at the SQL table level ?

Hey there yetiki;

If you want to change the FAQs I would suggest that you could start with these files.

tiki-list_faqs.php
tiki-list_faqs.tpl

That said it might be better to look at other options. The TW FAQs are not very feature rich. They tend to be good for a couple of dozen questions and then get bogged down. So they are good for a few general site FAQ issues but then get confusing. If you can make them better then please do. (remember to submit the changes for the rest of us to enjoy)

However, I prefer a different route for complex FAQs. Instead I tend too choose to use the tracker feature to create FAQs. With the tracker you can create your own layout and design of the FAQ. You can create a keyword search, You can add pictures, you can do all kinds of neat stuff.

I use the trackers for FAQs and for help desk kind of things a lot. You can do a lot with them and they are fairly straight forward to work with.
