One easy way is to use Admin -> phpinfo . It will display the location of the php config file.

Configuration File (php.ini) Path:

Mine, for instance is /usr/local/lib/php.ini

On a *nix system, if you have sudo permission, you could:
$sudo updatedb
$locate php.ini
