    hi,

    tried to install 1.9rc on suse 9.1 with apache2. pear is installed. i get the error:
    Copy to clipboard
    Fatal error: session_start(): Failed to initialize storage module. in /home/htdocs/web3/html/tiki/tiki-install.php on line 11

    when i try to open tiki-install.php and the same error with line 175 when i try to open the tiki . any ideas?

    Probably something similar to safe mode or open base dir in operation on your installation.

    There are fixes at the bottom of InstallTikiunderSafeMode. I think you just need the ini_set's for session.save_path putting into place.

    safe mode is off and open base dir is on the public html root of the user...
    i thought newer versions didn't need those changes, according to the last paragraph on that site?

    depends on your PHP setup.

    what I think is happening is that the open base dir is on as you say, yet the session.savepath is set to /something with the forward slash. A bodged PHP installation
