Rich user profiles?

Do any modules exist to let us customize user profiles? I want to be able to add several custom fields, and make those fields quickly visible to registered users, along with the ability to browse through user lists...

I posted this same request a while back. I wanted to have custom fields for each user for an alumni site. That would make it possible to add the class also known as year of graduation, but that's just one example. Of course it would be great to add a search box to allow one to search for users based on that information... or browse by various user profile criteria. What was suggested to me is the use of Trackers. Unfortunately I haven't taken advantage of that or figure out how exactly that would work based on the documentation I have for trackers. They seem to be for a different purpose but perhaps I am not recognizing the flexibility in them.
Would I be correct to say that the answer to Rich profiles is to use trackers as it was suggested to me??❓

Secondly, how does one browse or search for users as it is now?

Two last questions, for this post. Can I get an email when someone replies to a posting on this forum? Obviously I'd be most interested in replies to my posting whether on an existing thread or on a new thread I start. can that be done?
And is there any live chats that I could find for increased access to answers to questions that come up and one is so anxious to figure it out?
Thanks,
Bruce

Also, Trackers are like an electronic form and as such are very powerful & flexible (esp since Mose's overhaul in v1.9) . I think you could easily build an Alumni Directory containing the fields you want using Trackers and use filters for searching.

Use the icon in the top right hand corner (looks like an eye) to set a 'monitor' on a Forum thread. You can manage these by sselecting Watches in your preferences menu.

I have found IRC support to be excellent for immediate help. Time zones are somthing to be aware of though esp for those of us in Aus, NZ etc as you need to catch the Europeans when they are awake 😉
