Moving my Tiki from the root to a subdomain.

Hi,

I want to move my Tiki from the root of my domain www.griffingrove.com.au to a subdomain that I have just created, lyonpaedia.griffingrove.com.au. Does anyone have any advice on the best approach to take in performing this exercise? Is it a simple matter of moving the file structure to the new subdirectory? Are there Administration settings that must be changed (such as Server Name)? Is it best to perform any Admin changes before or after the move? Is it easier to make any admin changes directly into the database?

Any recommendations on how to perform this task would be appreciated.

Regards,

Ian P.

I have done this before. It does not require any Admin changes. Everything is relative to Document Root inside tw.

Hi,

I copied all of the files (at least, I think I've copied all of the files) from the root to the new subdomain's directory. I accessed the subdomain URL and there were some PHP errors. One file hadn't copied correctly so I moved it and then reaccessed the subdomain. No PHP errors this time but TW informed me that the permissions weren't set correctly on various directories. I modified the permissions as directed by TW and reaccessed the subdomain. Blank screen. I cleared the templates_c directory and reaccessed the website. TW appeared and I was able to access the pages on the website. Job done, very straightforward.

However, now there is an issue when I log in and edit a page. After editing the page TW loses the fact that I'm logged in. The edited page appears correctly but with a "Last Updated By" of Anonymous. I have to log in again at this point to edit another page.

Any ideas? Is this another permissions issue? All help appreciated!

Regards,

Ian P.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? All suggestions appreciated.

Try deleting your browser's cookies for the domain; they might be set for the old location.

Hi,

I deleted the cookies associated with the root location. This time I was able to edit a page successfully with TW retaining my login information.

Many, many thanks for your assistance with this issue.

I can see http://doc.oitavaesfera.com/tiki-index.php, so if pages for you are still blank, it may be a browser problem. Did you use your browser's cookie management to delete cookies for dev.oitavaesfera.com? (I'm not sure if domain name resolution could be another possible problem.)
