New Installation - Stall on logins.

I just installed a new copy of tiki wiki, and it has successfully installed, but for some reason when I try to login it simply hangs until I get an error page, "This webpage is not available." Now, I have been able to login when I first got the system installed, and one other time that I can't recall for the life of me how I got on. Otherwise every time I have tried, it has hung. Any ideas?

Some things to try:

  • What version of Tiki did you install?
  • Can you access the login page (../tiki-login.php) and log in successfully from there?
  • What type of authentication are you using?
  • Check your server's mod_security settings and confirm that Tiki can use all the PHP files in its installation directory.

-I Installed Tiki 6.1 - Latest Stable Release
-I can go to tiki-login.php, and that page will load fine, but when I enter the login information, it will stall like it has been. (I do notice that in the corner of my browser that is says "uploading 0%," until the error occurs.
-Note: I have tried logging in from several different locations, onto several different accounts, to the same results.
-I don't know what sort of authentication I am using, I imagine it is whatever the default is because I don't recall specifically changing any such thing.
-I thought I should note that I am being hosted on DreamHost, if that is of any relevance.
-I don't know how to access my mod_security settings. I did I search of the directories via ftp, and didn't find anything with that name. I am presuming there is a bit of server-related knowledge I am lacking here.

Thanks,

As an additional note, I have found that if I got o the site, hit "I forgot my password" and have it email me a password reset request, I can log in successfully by clicking on this link. I have no idea why this is, but it is working. Thought this might help with the diagnostic.

Ok, it looks like I got it working. I used the "forgot my password" trick to log in, then changed around login settings until it worked. Not sure what the issue was, but it appears to be fine now. Thanks for the assistance.
