Hi

a) Yes if you code it, its something that is badly needed, and on a wishlist

b) not sure, maybe in 1.8 with the search_new module, but without looking at that code I dont know.

I'd like to add a couple of wishes to that list;

Use Direct Pagination links in search results,
Be able to specify number of results per page,

At the moment, I do a search for a common word on my site, like "mail" I get "
Found "mail" in 51 pages

Then 32 of those 51 results are on the first page,
followed by

Page: 1/6 [next]

Obviousley, clicking next takes me to the next page of results (8 results)

further clicks of next produce the "No pages matched the search criteria" result, So I'm guessing that Tiki;
over-counted the search results by 10,
divided the search reults by the pagination value from somewhere (probably 10 also),
then listed 32 on the first page and 8 on the second,

Also I note that most of the search results are in fact the exact same hit on an item 3 times in some cases, (I'm guessing this is because of things like: Hit on a question in ONE FAQ, then hit it on another FAQ, then just hit the question..?)

I might hazard a guess that the pagination is screwed up because of the multiple hits on the same page (?) I reckon that of the 32 on the first page, about 10 are unique, if that helps any.

Does the search method need a bit of a shakeup to make it only list unique hits and paginates properly? Or is there something I am missing?

And Another thing..

When I search for "files" I get the same content back as if I had done a search on "Entire Site" and no file galleries appear to be included.

Did you know about that?
shrug why am I bothering you, it's obvious the search needs an overhaul, I'll shut up now.
