  1. I think we need to revise the 3 Rules
Rule 2 seems out of date now, this should be updated to reflect the new Git Merge Request system
Rules 1 and 3 seem to be pretty well neglected, this is a shame imho - can we enforce them somehow?

Hello
lu
luciash d' being 🧙 (luci)
00:15:35
I just never used any such scanner so I have no idea how the scenner works basically. Is it just scanning the code and it translates instead of keyboard inoput it inserts the number?
lu
luciash d' being 🧙 (luci)
00:16:50
Is it submiting automatically to a specific field and save?

Thanks

00:22:27
I see, so you will not need a barcode scanner plugged in but you can "scan" using your camera, right?

Luciash, It's the same question I wanted to ask
je

00:24:48
I feel say most cameras make real barcode scanners obsolete.
lu
luciash d' being 🧙 (luci)
00:26:19
Well, for labs, libraries, shops, and places like that I still believe it is much faster for them to use real barcode scanner than using their phone camera.
je
Jean-Marc Libs (Jyhem)
00:28:34
Even in a library, if you want an inventory I imagine you would prefer to go around the place with a smartphone instead of bringing all books to the barcode scanner.

I think you would need to keep Tiki.org (the main site) one version LTS lower instead of using the cutting edge on it.
ma
Marc Laporte (marclaporte)
00:58:17
stable version vs stable branch
lu
luciash d' being 🧙 (luci)
00:58:27
Now it is 28.x, it should be on 24.x LTS to be most "stable"
lu
luciash d' being 🧙 (luci)
00:59:46
It would be OK with me using 28.x on the "sister" sites doc, dev, themes, etc.
lu
luciash d' being 🧙 (luci)
01:00:56
But maybe we should reconsider using it for the main site.
lu
luciash d' being 🧙 (luci)
01:08:26
It is true we have Forums enabled only on the main site
be
Benoit Grégoire (benoitg)
01:10:55
Personally I find the idea of latest stable to be considered less stable than LTS an aberration. To me the point of LTS is that they change less, not they are more stable.

Feedback loop will be a lot better once site owners gain more experimence.

ma
Marc Laporte (marclaporte)
01:31:43
hahahha
lu
luciash d' being 🧙 (luci)
01:34:54
Is there anybody here who did not know about the 3Rules and read this for the first time?
lu
luciash d' being 🧙 (luci)
01:36:30
Core functions should not be optional for sure but features should be for sure but then the question is what settings of the individual features should be optional
je
Jean-Marc Libs (Jyhem)
01:41:11
But new buggy core functions should start as off by default.
lu
luciash d' being 🧙 (luci)
01:43:28
Correct, it was a regression
je
Jean-Marc Libs (Jyhem)
01:43:46
Then later when they work fine we explain on the release notes and we can change the default.
be
Bernard Sfez / Tiki Specialist (Bsfez)
01:48:04
I’d like to have an improved non-default prefs list. How it will behave for Tiki that upgraded from far far away (lets say a Tiki 12 to Tiki 28). Default changed.
lu

Some recent corner cases for next time we discuss optional feature policiy.

1- The mermaid graph generation. Should the export options getting into the hamburger menu have been an option (I think now, but I suspect other think so)

2- Upcoming one: Making relationship fields (Itemlink, Relations, etc.) navigable in the default tracker interface (When clicking on the data you'd get to that item in the other tracker). It seems a much better default. But complicated (code wise) to make optional. But could be necessary by policy.
