• I'm researcher and lecturer at the Ecology Department of University of Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain.

Innovation in Teaching at Uni using wikis: UniWiki

• I'm involved in a project of testing the use of wiki in teaching at university level, as well as other 9 lecturers from two public universities.
• Right now we are running the project, since we got funding from the Catalan Government. We'll test from september 2004 to july 2005 the efectiveness (or not 😊 ) of wikis for group work writing paper works for subjects in experimental sciences (Biology, Environmental Sciences and Medicine).

• We have submitted two proposals (related to wiki use at university teaching and learning) of oral presentations at two international conferences. In case we get accepted our proposal (answer by April'04), it would be nice to have contributions from other collaborators with experience in using wiki...
  • We've got them both accepted!😊
    • First (for http://cidui.upc.es) as a poster, already prepared and visible (in Spanish) at: here
    • Second, as a oral communiation, at Creete (http://www.eera.ac.uk/events.html), but it's too expensive, unluckily, without aids from our university for this case. So I guess that we won't attend to this one...

Group for Free Knowledge at University of Barcelona (gclUB)

• We do our best for promoting free klnowledge in our university. Just started! 😉
• We also use tiki as our web portal http://gclub.ub.es

Social movements in Barcelona: Infoespai.org

• We are also using tiki in Infoespai cooperative, promoting sharing resources related to information among individuals and collectives that works for the Social Change. We use tiki as our main tool for collaborative asinchronous and distant work. See it in action here:

Catalan l10n of tiki

This is just to inform you that a bunch of people translated tiki 1.4.2 into catalan months ago (see link ), but we finished for the 1.5 release (too late 😑 ). We are planning to finish the translation at 1.8, but any other hand is welcome. So far, we have our catalan localized version in progress at http://www.moviments.net
