History: Style508

The TikiWiki theme (which will probably end up being called something completely different), is a theme specially designed to utilize the power, and capability of remote style sheets using the CSS2 (Cascading Style Sheets Model 2) standard, as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C - http://w3.org), while carefully designing every aspect of the theme to not only meet, but also surpass existing requirements & recommendations for Web Accessibility, as made by the United States Government in Section 504 (http://section504.gov), the W3C, Bobby (http://bobby.watchfire.com/bobby), Cynthia (http://www.cynthiasays.com), and others. The TikiWiki theme builds off the existing structure of TikiWiki to serve as an example for both TikiWiki themes, and Web Applications as a whole, while using the eXtreme Programming work model.

In addition to the above, the TikiWiki theme endeavour seeks to pursue the following specific goals:

• Serve as a fully standards-compliant, comprehensive theme in which modularity is its middle name (or, at least one of them)
• Exemplify Accessibility compliance
• X-HTML 1.0 Transitional compliance
• Completely tableless design, including data tables (under discussion)
• Eliminate bugs related to layout & design
• Reduced downloading time, particularly for users with limited bandwidth
• Reduced rendering time
• Separate layout/formatting & content
• CSS2 compliance
• Seamless integration with the upcoming musus theme designer
