I found tiki by accident looking for some scripts to use on my Intranet to run some Image Galleries. However since that evening Tiki has is being used non stop on the Intranet and now is making its appearance on the website.
Developer Documentation is in progress on my own TikiGod site as TikiWiki Hacking Guides. I have covered most subjects including the TikiWiki Style system and the use of Smarty Templates. Registered users can upload their own contributed themes.

Phylip at: 18:36:25 UTC Damian TikiGod, Welcome. Got a backup problem on features/use forum. Any ideas?
Damian at: 18:33:52 UTC markshoe: TikiGod here ;) They are WikiWords, you can turn them off in Admin->Wiki or if you only have a couple surround the word with )) ((
colorado at: 18:10:51 UTC Hey jamesoftopia, on your community voices site, disable GZIP Output to get past that error screen...
markshoe at: 18:06:00 UTC james: yes they are links, and it does occur when there is a capital letter in the middle. How do I turn that off?
jamesoftopiya at: 17:31:42 UTC Are they links to a new page or code? Could it be the squished naming thing where you have a word with a capital letter in the middle. IE. TikiWiki
markshoe at: 17:17:15 UTC Anyone know why I'm getting question marks showing up beside some of the words in my articles?
sunilfotedar at: 17:13:59 UTC It's never a 'bad time' to thank someone who deserves it. I need help on creating forums. After reading through the FAQs, I somehow cannot find a way to create forums, probably missing some documents...
Phylip at: 16:19:53 UTC OK, OK. seeing as everyone is at it. I think Damian is ace too!
bluemacon at: 15:38:07 UTC probably not a bad time to throw my thanks to damian and marclaporte for past (very helpful) help... THANKS!
sunilfotedar at: 15:05:57 UTC I agree with markshoe. Damian has been tremendous help. I need help on creating Forums, pleeeeeaaasssee ...
markshoe at: 22:19:32 UTC Damian, you are a tiki-god! Thanks a million!
Damian at: 22:15:22 UTC markshoe, make sure your first character in the article isnt a space! If its a space it forces it into a monospaced font
markshoe at: 21:43:28 UTC Anyone know how to turn on word-wrap in articles (tiki 1.7)

If anyone wants or needs any help with their TikiWiki's you can find me in the IRC Tiki room #tikiwiki on irc.freenode.net, by contacting me using Jabber, my jid is damian at www.damosoft.co.uk. Or of course, by the great email!

I've been a Linux Guru eek since leaving secondary school, during 2 years at college trying to master the various annual slackware releases and now I'd like to say that I can fix most problems in the Red Hat varient. Linux is running on all my PC's apart from 1 I use for my Visual Basic work. Ive now recently downloaded the Fedora Core 1 and installing onto my day to day workstation.

Damosoft is my work. 2004 will see the installation of my new Dual P4 Processor webserver ready for some Hosting, including TikiWiki hosting! razz See TikiFriendlyHosts for more details!
News Update: I'm currently playing with different RAID configurations! Wont be long now!!

TikiWiki News

I am the release manager for the 1.7.5 bugfix version Please see ReleaseProcess175 for more details. I have also accepted the position of a TikiWiki Project Admin on Sourceforge.

Things I've done
Theme Makeover at Damosoft
Over the last couple of days I have been working on modifing the moreneat into a creation to use on damosoft.co.uk. I didnt want the 3 column layout, so settled for a 2 column. I have got a modified tiki-top_bar with a banner zone along the top, my 3 jabber status indicators are also in the header. Underneath we have a menubar, with register/login, (Why do people insist that the login box always have to be displayed??) The wiki page tpl has another banner zone on it which I'm working on Flash adverts for, and its also had some {if $user} added to prevent the wiki action buttons from appearing and I've replaced the pagetitle to be the page description. Also on the wiki pages I have added a more friendly approach to the last modified date. Tiki-bot_bar consists of a series of buttons including my Freeworld voip indicator. On the right column we have a custom menu module and a RSS Latest Virus information feed. When you register and get assigned into different project groups, project module boxs appears on the right as well. You can see all this in action at http://www.damosoft.co.uk. OH! Something you have to see is the modification ive made to error.tpl. When you visit the site, click on either the Newsletters or the Games on the menu and you'll see we have given the tpl a makeover and a more friendly approach. Next I was to replace icons on the forum tpls Enjoy! p.s. its all in 1.7.4 wink

  • Meta tag admin screens
  • Made a babybot from TikiBot to hang around in #damosoft although babybot has the same annoying behavour problems as TikiBot in that they both disconnect and reconnect as they feel like it.
Installation for www.damosoft.co.uk tiki integration was simple enough, although the bot modules had to be customised.
babybot uses !D where as TikiBot uses !T, so they could exist on the same channel if needed.
really the ! wants changing otherwise you will get 2 replys with !php etc
The behaviour pattern needs to be corrected before I could leave babybot alone
  • Added Horizontal menu support into TikiWiki from phplayers, thanks to mose for the initial vertical and tree integration!
Alot more work can be done in this area, especially for colour changes of themes, nested submenus, change of the submenu template files (ihtml files)
you need to have the phplayers menu style classes in your themes CSS file.
  • Backported phplayers menu to 1.7.5 codebase
anyone want this? I can put into CVS biggrin

Things Im doing!
  • BlogDev
  • AccountsModuleDev for TikiWiki
  • Release DamoJuke into TikiWiki
  • DamoECard system into TikiWiki too?
  • Get some integrated online ordering (shop) into TikiWiki
  • I have a download area on damosoft site for Tiki Themes, this is mainly for my hosted Tiki sites, but all Tikians are welcome wink
currently we have my tarball of 1.7.5 CVS there too
Im thinking about another download area with custom modules available in readyness for tiki packager

Other things on my mind

Track down a voice gateway to tiki (Voice Browser) that can be run from a normal phone line. This would have so many uses for TikiWiki, such as a Telephone Information Line. There is a project on SourceForge but it requires a ISDN line. I would need this gateway interface to work with a normal analogue telephone line.

Some TikiWiki Sites hosted on my server

Some of my stable production TikiWiki Sites

Some of my new for 2004 sites

and my CVS development site

Interesting Topics

  • PDA browsing, I have a Compaq iPaq 3870, but now I have a integrated mobile phone and PDA known as the XDA which runs the same ))PocketPC(( software as the iPaq but with telephony options. This brings me to, making Tiki more browsable on such a device. Under a GPRS connection, you are charged per Kb, so really we only want to see necessary details, really a theme less layout and certainly not the left and right columns on each page. The HAWHAW interface personally i think it more WAP Phone interface, the PocketPC system is capable of much more. I need to poke around with HAWHAW or maybe even better design a PocketPC theme!
  • For those that want to know I use Fedora Linux on my workstation, and Windows XP on a laptop for Visual C++ and Visual Basic work. I am successfully using tsclient on fedora to logon and control my Windows XP running on the laptop razz
  • A very useful Quick Reference Card for the CVS system is available at refcards.com
  • Im using BitchX for IRC communications now, so that I can reconnect from any location!
  • Attached is a photo taken with a Nokia 3650 of my monitor setup
This photo was then Bluetoothed from the phone to my Fedora installation using a USB Mitsumi Bluetooth module. Who says you cant do everything in Linux wink

arrow Enjoy 2004! wink
