Forum pages in wiki??

Hi,

I work for an environmental agency in Canada and there has been several thoughts about using TikiWiki on a somewhat operationnal basis.

I am in charge of investigating for forums to be used nationally and as management is interested in an integrated solution to all problems, I have been looking into tikiwiki's forums.

It rapidly occured to me that the forums do not contain wiki pages (although you can make links to wiki pages) per se. This prevents a use of forums where people could modify the information out there by others.

Having looked at phpbb, v_bulletin, yabb etc... I am still unsure whether the tikiwiki forums look as good as they should.

Is there more development going into them as we speak?

Yes, there is development in each version.

Some things are better in a forum (brainstorming, debating, etc)

Some things are really better managed in a wiki (permanent information, documentation, status report, meeting minutes, FAQs collaborative editing, etc)

The big advantage of Tiki is that you have these two features (and a ton of others) in one application in single sign on.

Classic forums use Sticky posts as a way to keep permanent information easily accessible.

From your short description, I'd say Tiki is exactly what you need :-)

M ;-)
