Sending email from wiki

I am trying to configure the sending of emails from my wiki. I have installed and run sendmail. I have also inbstalled BIND (named) although I have not changed any of the config files as I do not fully understand what I am doing.

The MX-Record for receiving mail is set at the company I purchased my domain from. From my understanding, this shouldn´t impact on sending emails out.

Where do I start looking to set the email sending from my wiki? (eg just sending password reminders)

I dont think you need install bind. What host are you using ?

Basically outgoing email is currently sent through PHP's mail function, this is configured through the php.ini file.

You'll find the doc page for mail on php.net's site very good at getting a working setup.

I am running a Mandrake 10.1 Apache 2.0 PHP (I forget which version. Where do I find out?) and MySQL 4.0

I have double checked the PHP.INI file. It still is not working.

When I send a password reminder it doesn show any error, but no mail is sent? From the php.net I have seen that the php uses the sendmail command, hense I was looking at the sendmail settings and bind.

Any further suggestions?

Thanks,
Maarten

On the php.net site it states that the mail function needs access to the sendmail binary. I have tried to configure my KDE's Kontact to send via sendmail as well. I have managed to send 3 emails according to Kontact but none have arrived. I might be on a wild goose chase but I recon it is a sendmail problem.

PLEASE can someone point me in the right direction to set this problem straight. I am not able to send mail from my wiki's. This has been going on for some months now and I am still not able to find a solution. It is now becoming critical for me to set this up.

Thanks,
Maarten
