Import mbox

I am in the process of establishing a TikiWiki-based community for a GIS group in Tanzania. We have an existing Mailman list. New mails will be available for browsing in a forum on our tikiwiki-website.

The problem is to have old messages imported into the forum. We have old mbox-files and would like the messages to be available for browsing through the forum.

Forwarding messages to the pop-mail account is one solution. But I would prefer direct import. So how?

(Tried uploading the mbox-contents to an account on gmail and then pull i from that one. Wrong dates but I guessed it would be ok. Failed because tikiwiki pop client didnt support ssl...)

You will have a lot of problems because the PHP timeouts after 30 seconds and also the POP3 library is extremely tempramental.

It would be much better to write a dedicated import routine to place these mails directly into the database.
