Not sure quite what happened

I am currently using Tiki version 1.7. I hadn't used tiki for a few months (late 2004 might be an approximation, I honestly don't remember). Last week, someone asked me if the site was still up. "Well, sure!", I replied, "Just not updated". Thet asked me to retrieve some document that I had converted to wiki, but that's not entirely relevant. I get to the home page, and I get a 'permission denied' error. Hmm, I thought to myself. I try to login to admin, but cannot. I checked PhpMyadmin quickly, and oddly enough, there was only one user, the admin. I logged in using that username and password, and everything was gone, it seemed. So, I checked entries in PhpMyAdmin.

No Galaxia records
214 records in tiki_actionlog (which is accurate)
21 records in tiki_images_old
1 record in tiki_languages
7 records in tiki_live_support_modules
2 records in tiki_modules
1 record in tiki_pages
1 record in tiki_preferences
1 record in tiki_sessions
2 records in users_groups
141 records in users_permissions
1 record in users_users

I am horrible at backing up. I can admit that up front. I actually do have a PhpMyAdmin dump from 08-21-03, but I have a nagging feeling it won't help me in any which way. So, I'm a bit confused as to what I do next. What actually happened? Is there some magic restore I can do?

If anyone could help me, in any which way, it would be deeply appreciated.

More than likely it was hacked 1.7 is not secure and there was a big campaign for everyone to upgrade to the more secure 1.8 release.

If you have good records for apache log you could always try and look there, otherwise Id advise installing the latest 1.9 from scratch.

Thank you, I will. I'll rewrite the pages by piecing out the dump.
