How to made Blog private

Hi community,

I was wondering what needs to be done to keep Blog postings private and when it is deem ready by the blogger to release it for public viewing.

I noted that there is a tick box for "Mark entry as private:" in Edit Post. Even when I ticked it, I am surprise that anybody can view the blog and the posting!! Is the entry "Mark entry as private:" meant for this purpose or otherwise??? rolleyes

I understand I can set permissions to disable viewing of the the blog postings but I feel there might be a easier way to release blog for public viewing as and when the blogger desire and ready to.....Am I missing something here?

Thanks.

I did a search in Tiki's files for the variable that checkbox uses, and didn't find it anywhere but in the blog post files, so it looks like the front end is installed but it's not wired up yet. There's a "priv" column in the tiki_blog_posts database table, but it doesn't seem to get any content even when a "private" post is created, and I don't see any code in tiki-view_blog to check for privacy. A work in progress, it seems.

Since viewing permissions are currently set on a total-blog level and not for individual posts, and since there's no "publishing date" as with articles, maybe the best workaround would be to use a wiki page for blog drafts — since you can make it "admin-only" — and then copy the source code to your blog when you're ready to go public with it.

How do you do that to make it "admin-only"??

My wiki is setup to be publically viewable. But you can't remove an permission only set new ones ....

True, but permissions for specific objects have a higher priority than general permissions for groups. For the "admin-only" wiki page you can assign the permission tiki_p_admin_wiki to the admin group. Then non-admin users can't view it.
