Problem w/ leading or trailing whitespace in search

Hi all! First off - I'm new here. But I really like this product. It seems pretty feature complete, and fairly polished. Kudos to the development team! Now onto the problem...

Whenever I have leading or trailing spaces in my search criteria, the page renders incorrectly (the *content* of the page is "correct" - but man is it ugly). Firefox put's " " before all menu items - and elsewhere. In addition, the page size increases by about 10 times (in bytes) - according to my Apache logs. I tried trimming the whitespace in tiki-searchresults.php, but that doesn't seem to work. IE 6 errors out about invalid XML...

Anyone encounter this? I didn't see anything in the forums discussing this topic. Also, it seems this tiki site is immune to this problem - so maybe it's been resolved?

If anyone needs more info - I'd be more than happy to provide.

Test setup:
Apache 2.0.55 running on Win2K3
Tiki 1.92
MySQL 4.1.15
Browsers:
- Firefox 1.04
- IE 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158
Themes tried: damian and moreneat

TIA!
