Editing Application Menu

posts: 24

Hi folks,

I've put together a tiki site (1.8.6) for a group that arent technically savvy. I will be teaching them how to do basic edits and uploading files/images, but I find the application menu (Menu) and in particular the Admin section, has a lot of options that they will never use, and likely only confuse.
So my question is how can I remove some of these unnecessary options (especially from the Admin section?

I have tried to go through the menus section of the admin options, and edit the contents of the Application Menu but the changes are not reflected in the actual site, even after deleting my browser cache and refreshing, as well as deleting teh contents of the templates_c directory in the tiki root.

Any insight would be great!

Hi biffer;

My thought is that you would be better off creating a new menu for your users. You could go through the main menu and set up the rights to view but it is much easier to start from scratch.

  • Create a new menu with the items that you want to include.
  • Note, that you can include rights in the menu item
