My thoughts,
- The templates_c folder can be a problem when you do an upgrade or other changes to your site.
- The only time that I have seen this kind of problem is when my server has had major changes. As I recall (and that was a few years ago) the problem was that the server file onership changed. This was because of the linux upgrade and changes to the file system.
