PHP memory_limit

Hi,

I was going to install tikiwiki, but was a little surprised when I read the php memory_limit recommendation of 32M and 8M is not good for tikiwiki.

I'd rather use tikiwiki, but definetly do not want to deal with server problems. I think this could be an issue with some search engine bots such as google. So this could hurt search engine rankings.

I really appreciate if anyone could answer two questions

1. Is this issue going to be solve anytime soon?
2. Does MediaWiki have this problem?

Thanks,
YT

I run Tiki at a hosted domains (at http://hostrocket.com) where the PHP memory is only 8MB and I haven't had any problems related to that. So it seems this might or might not be an issue for any particular installation.

If there is a memory-related problem, the symptoms are things like pages not displaying fully, IIRC. I don't think there's anything specific concerning Google bots, unless of course the pages aren't displaying sufficiently to be indexed.

I don't know of if this is considered a Tiki problem to be fixed, near-term at least, since a server configuration change (or hosting company change) will solve it.

Mediawiki also likes more memory, from what I read.

I think, though, that it really depends on how many modules, and which ones, your Tiki will use.
