TikiWiki1.9.5 & transfer to PHP5 server?

Just installed TikiWiki1.9.5 on my siteQuestion (beginners stage!) at BlueHost.comQuestion

WHAT ARE THE PRO'S AND CON'S FOR USING PHP5 WITH TIKI-WIKI 1.9.5 ?

I might have to install TikiWiki again: Prefer to do it in this beginners stage!

I also posted this question on the Bluehost forum => in this threadQuestion

Here is all the data from former mails etc. , but I'm not that technical to determine the ins and outs:

...
MySQL 4.0.x (or higher)
For MySQL 4.1.x, you must use Tiki 1.9.x
For MySQL 5.x, you must use Tiki 1.9.3+. See MySQL5 for details.
...
PHP
TikiWiki requires PHP 4.1+, version 4.2+ is recommended For PHP 5.0, you must use Tiki 1.9.1 (or higher) with the MySQLi extension.
We recommend using the following configuration in your php.ini file:
(long story)
...
Webmail -> PHP 4.2+

That is what I could find. But this info might be quite old (how about the present new version 1.9.5?).

Furthermore: I know when installing, I just installed MySQL and NOT MySQLi extension.

This respons I got from another BlueHost customer Rick Safir (KeyContent.orgQuestion) on Tue, 3 Jan 2006:

Ahh..... I see now. The MySQLi is only used when running MySQL 4.1.3 (or higher). See http://us3.php.net/mysqliQuestion for details.

If your PHP is like mine, you're only running 4.1.13, so the MySQLi
requirements are not necessary.

(this was in Januar, when installing TikiWiki 1.9.2; now I installed 1.9.5)

BlueHost Customer Service:

In order to have PHP 5, we will move your account to a server with PHP 5 installed. Your site will be down between 24 to 72 hours for DNS propagation.

Unfortunately, in regards to the pro's and con's in relation to the questions you had, this is something you will need to contact TikiWiki for. There should be forums or documentation about this at their website. After referring to this, if you decide to move to PHP 5, please let us know by replying to the previous email regarding PHP5.

On our PHP 5 server the exact version of php .is 5.1.6 with mysql 4.120 or php 5.1.1.6 with mysql 5.0.22.

Right now my BlueHost account has:

Operating system Linux
Kernel version 2.6.17-11_1.BHsmp
Apache version 1.3.37 (Unix)
PERL version 5.8.5
PHP version 4.4.4
MySQL version 4.1.20-standard-log

No response yet and it already had moved to page 2!
Like to continue and settle this, before I invite members. Also I dont like to loose more work that ??'m adding every day to the present installed TikiWiki, if future switching might fail. So what shall I do?

To easy comprehend all the important background info & my question:

1)
Transfer TikiWiki 1.9.5 to PHP 5.1.6 with MySQL 4.120, or PHP 5.1.6 with MySQL 5.0.22?
(as BlueHost says)

2)
What about MySQLi -> do I need to use that (see above info)

3)
Pro's & con's transfering?

THANKS! -Mark

No idea, so let's do it then and see what happens!

PHP 5.1.6 with MySQL 5.0.22

I found a TW page that says:
http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=MySQL5Question
To use MySQL5 with Tiki, you need to use Tiki version 1.9.3 or later

So it probably can't hurt.

And then select MySQLi for TikiWiki, no idea, but found this:

Beyond gaining access to the new features of MySQL 4.1+, why would anyone want to switch to using ext/mysqli?
In addition to the functionality mentioned above, ext/mysqli also has some other serious benefits:
Greater speed. Enhancements in both the extension and in MySQL have made most operations faster, with certain operations becoming up to 40 times faster as compared to ext/mysql.
Better security. In older versions of the MySQL RDBMS, the possibility existed for an attacker to extract weak password hashes from the network and then recreate a user's password. The new authentication procedure is much more robust and mirrors the attack-resistant authentication procedure of tools like SSH.
