Prevent Hacked Wiki - Change Default Permissions Settings

My wiki's index.php was replaced by a hacker. The pages and folders had permission settings of 777 (standard in TikiWiki 1.9.2.). My host advised me to change permissions to 755 for folders and 644 for all php files. He/she said that would not interfere with the wiki. Has TikiWiki changed the standard permission settings in new versions?

Not sure about current permissions, but there are vulnerabilities in earlier Tiki versions — file permissions aside — that might well have been responsible for the problem at your site. The Tiki devs are serious when they post security releases and advise people to upgrade.
