Disable permission to edit html-page

Hi everybody

I have successfully installed the Tikiwiki, but now I want to prevent the basic user from editing the html-startpage. I guess it has to do with the permissions i give to that page, or has it to do with permissions to the groups? which parameter do i have to change?

Thank you for your help
kind regards
Tobias

If you want the Basic user to not be able to edit any page, then take away the tiki_p_edit from Registered (go to Admin -> Groups, select the key icon for the group and then remove the appropriate permission)

If you just want to change a specific page and not all pages, then at the bottom of the specific page, click on 'perms' and assign the perms for that page as needed. Note that these specific perms override the default and need to include ALL perms on the page. If you assign ANY permission to a specific page, you have to assign ALL of the perms for that page.

You should look at PermissionAdmin for more details.

Hi Gary

Thank you for helping me on the problem. I followed your hints but now the problem occurred, that the basic user (not registered) failed to view the startpage. What i did is to change (as you suggested as second hint) to change the perms of "edit" to the editors (or admin), but that seems not to be the solution. But actually I found out how to do it, i simply locked the page from changing (the button to the right, if i remember right). Now it works. So, there I am. Thank you!

kind regards
Tobias
