Reset install? Bad admin password

First post, so go easy.

I installed (successfully I might add) 1.9.7 and things were good. I got into the admin area and wanting to be safe, I changed the admin username and password.

I used a simple name and password. I could see that the name took (it was the only user in the system), but the password didn't seem to work. Key point, I hadn't "setup" the mail yet, so I could not have the system send me a password.

Of course, I logged out to update the user name. It went badly from there...

I couldn't log back in with the simple new user name and password.

I tried to do something with the users_users table (only place I could find actual user info). No luck.

I tried to rerun the install script. Won't access it anymore.

I tried to find where the users_users table was created in the scripts (especially anyone that would have populated the admin user/password). Failed.

I dropped the users_users table hoping it would recreate it. Failed

I dropped the entire database hoping for something. Failed (and of course, the site went down) 😡

I'm reinstalling now, BUT, how do you rest an admin password? Assuming I can be root on the box and in MySQL.

How do you get it to go back into "setup/install" mode?

Thanks,

~ B

Thanks Gary,

I looked at the FAQ's, but I guess I fixated on the "Install" part. 😬
