Login box on the home page

Hello All,

I'm trying to view the home page without having to login in. Basically, I would like to allow the public to view the pages, but have to login only to edit. Currently, when I want to go to the home page of my wiki, I have to login to see the home page. Can anyone please tell me how to disable that. I've tried to by going to the login section, but I don't see any options that would be useful.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Annie

Annie,

First I'm no genius here -just a somewhat experienced user- but here's a coupla' ideas:

By default, when Tiki is set up it should pretty much make most things public for viewing. Log in, look under the admin menu in the General section then look for "General Settings" and make sure "disallow access to the site..." is unchecked.

Go to the "Users" admin area and click "admin groups" click the little key icon and see what permissions are set for anonymous. You can delete any with the little x to the right of each permission or you can scroll down to a larger menu that shows all possible permissions to add or delete. If you've set your home page to be a blog page, say, and there is no permission set for anonymous to view blogs, then that could be the problem.

I'm sure others will have some more (better) suggestions.

Thank You Unclegeo and ricks99 for your great help!

Your replies made me realize that the 'anonymous user' was missing from the list altogether! After creating and giving it the viewing permissions all is working well biggrin

thanks very much!smile
