Hompage Renaming

Hi,
I am just getting started and the simplest task is perplexing me. I can not rename the Homepage.
I rename it but when I go somewhere else on my site and then hit "wiki home" or "home" my name change is gone. The page with the name change still exists as an orphan that I found by quick editing the page name. Whats up? Did I set something wrong. I am the admin.
Thanks Zach

The page HomePage is special and Tiki will automatically create it. Please see this FAQ to use a different page as you Tiki's "home" page.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies! I still could not get it to do what I wanted. I followed both suggestions and I got it to go to my new "home" page when I first go to my site. When I hit Home on my left menu it then returns to my "Homepage" I just want it to have a different name can I edit the tiki-admin.php file? Do I have to just abandon "Homepage" and tiki-admin.php because I don't like its title?
Thanks,
Zach

Looks like you have to edit the menu. (The menu items don't change dynamically in a case like this — they have to be changed by hand.) See the docs if you're not sure about that.

This happened to me too. IIRC, the fix was under Admin > General, set the "Browser title" field to match the new home page name. If that doesn't do it, try scanning each of the admin dialogs until you find another one that is a mismatch with the new home page name. But I think it was the "Browser title" field.

Great!!! Thanks
Those menu docs really make it all clear.
I got it going, this is getting fun. Thank you all for your help.

Hi;

Although the change you made to your menu may have fixed the link to your new home page it may not be the best solution.
As marbux pointed out there is a place to set your home page properly. However, the area suggested was incorrect.

To set up your home page with a different name go to admin, wiki admin. or tiki-admin.php?page=wiki

Mid way down the left hand side is a place to put your new home page name. It is called "Wiki Home Page" input your page name and click the "set" button.

If you do not change this then anytime you rename HomePage the system will create a new one. As well if you do not change this then if you use site identity or any other feature that links to your home page the link will be incorrect.

By changing the HomePage here you do not need to make any changes to menus they will automatically change for you! Aslo if you change the menu item then group home pages may not work if you set them up!

Hope that helps, James

I wonder if this is included in the docs?
