How do I upgrade from 2.0 to 2.1 Posted by KaiiaK 25 Sep 2008 11:11 GMT-0000 posts: 82 I can not find any instructions for upgrading from 2.0 to 2.1 I have downloaded 2.1, and I am now uploading the files to my server on top of the current installation. When that is done, am I done, or do I need to run one of the install scripts? Kai

Posted by Darren 30 Sep 2008 14:51 GMT-0000 posts: 289 Perhaps someone could correct me if I'm wrong but I'm sure that I read somewhere that there are no database changes between 2.0 and 2.1. Does this imply then that there need not be any SQL script. In fact, why do I need to run the installer (tiki-install.php) at all, isn't simply copying and replacing the changed files sufficient? I did just that last night (I fact can't access the tiki-install.php file because I get 403 permissions problems even though the file has at least 775 permissions and I can set it to 777 if I really must). However, Tiki reports that it is now running 2.1. Does Tiki lie, am I missing a final piece of the puzzle? I did some basic testing and everything seems to work ok.
Posted by KaiiaK 30 Sep 2008 19:31 GMT-0000 posts: 82 I am confused as well. I have now run a upgrade script (I think 1.9 to 2.x), but found no 2.0 to 2.1 upgrade script. I also am confused about the need to run the script, and was surprised that Rick suggested I had to run the script, but he is a very experienced tikiwiki user, and has helped me many times before, so I chose to follow his advise;-) What is clear, is that the tikiwiki community does not offer good documentation on much. So users have to do lots of trial and error. Again thank you Rick for an excellent Web site http://twbasics.keycontent.org/tiki-index.php , and personal help.
Posted by Rick Sapir / Tiki for Smarties 01 Oct 2008 11:10 GMT-0000 posts: 3665 I stand corrected. Apparently there were no database changes from 2.0 to 2.1. After copying over the new files you should be all set to go. HTH, -Rick Need more help? Try TikiWiki for Dummies Smarties or read my Tiki Blog or visit my UserPage

Posted by KaiiaK 25 Sep 2008 15:36 GMT-0000 posts: 82 thank you Rick! I did run ....com/tiki-install.php and I get this error message. Installer disabled. Remove 'db/lock' to enable the installer. Your nice site gave me some guidence about how to re enable the installer script at http://twbasics.keycontent.org/tiki-index.php?page=Fixing+Installation+Problems#The_installer_is_gone_ but that is not what is in my install file What I have there is a file called: tiki-installer.php My Web site seems to run fine, but I am totally in the dark here. Any advice would be helpfull. Kai
