Windows Server 2003 - Easy way to perfect installation!

Hi Folks. I just finished a TikiWIki 3.0 installation on Window$ $erver 2003 and it works perfectly! I wanted to share my experience with others attempting the same...

First, forget using IIS. It will just frustrate you and fail.

1) Download Reactor Server for a good WAMP stack. Try http://sourceforge.net/projects/reactorsrv/Question for a link to that. "The Reactor Server is an easy to install Apache distribution for Windows - MySQL, PHP, Perl, phpMyAdmin, PHP-Nuke and Zina." It's everything you need to support and run TikiWIki!

2) Create your Tiki data base using the Reactor's phpMyAdmin section.

2a) First, use the basic "create" box to initially create the basic Tiki data base (I used the name "tiki1" for mine.)

2b) Then use the "SQL" button to get to a text box where you can enter CLI-like direct SQL commands. Enter the following SQL to create a root user and password with all permissions on the data base;

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON tiki1.* TO 'tiki1user'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'tiki1pass' WITH GRANT OPTION;

(Do not forget the ";" at the end of the line!)

3) Download TikiWiki, rename the folder to "tikiwiki" and place the folder containing the app in the "htdocs" directory of Reactor (hint, look in the "Core" directory for it). Copy the entire tikiwiki folder there, not the contents of the folder, so that you have a ..htdocs/tikiwiki directory structure.

4) Fire up a browser (I use Firefox), point to http://localhost/tikiwikiQuestion. This should automagically get you to the tiki-install.php page. Follow the instructions; enter your data base name, user name, and password you generated in the GRANT command above (db=tiki1, u=tiki1user, p=tiki1pass in my case).

5) TikiWIki install will ask you to pick a "profile". Default is fine, but it's your choice.

6) Success!! Smile and have fun with it.
