Tiki Installer Security Precaution

I am trying to preform a fresh install of TW4.1 on Windows Server 08 R2, IIS 7.5, PHP 5.2.12 and MySQL 5.1.42. However, after filling in the page for the database information to populate the database, I reach a page entitled

Tiki Installer Security Precaution
You are attempting to run the Tiki Installer. For your protection, this installer can be used only by a site administrator.

To verify that you are a site administrator, enter your database credentials (database username and password) here.

If you have forgotten your database credentials, find the directory where you have unpacked your Tiki and have a look inside the db folder into the local.php file.

I enter the 'root' account information and hit 'Validate and Continue'. But it takes me back to the 'Welcome' page. Now any link I hit Takes me to the validation page and I enter the correct user (root) account info and I'm sent back to the 'Welcome' page. The install doesn't want to continue.

If you want, check out www.nerdzone.net to see the site.

Any help / insight is totally appreciated.

I have exactly the same configuration (except MySQL 5.1.41 instead of 5.1.42) and I have exactly the same problem.

I've seen this problem occur on sites where Tiki was unable to successfully write session information. Some things to check:
- In Tiki, are you storing session data in the file system or the database? If the file system, verify that the location is accessible and that Tiki has full write permission.
- Review the session configuration information in your php.ini file. Again, verify that the path/location is correct and that it is writeable.

Well, I've tried to reply to this a couple of times and each time get an error message, so we will see if it works this time.

Anyway, thanks kindly Rick for your suggestions. But in the mean time I have submitted it as a bug (Item 3015 I think.) Here's why.

I installed 4.1 fresh, just like NerdZone and got the same result.

Then I deleted that install and installed 3.4 LTS. That worked.

Then I upgraded to 4.1 and got roughly the same problem as a fresh install.

To me this demonstrates it's not a php issue or a problem with where the data is being stored. It seems to me it is a problem with 4.x and most likely in the tiki-install.php page itself.

Anyway, that's my guess.

Thanks again and kind regards,

PBW

I have the same problem with IIS on 2003-Server and mysql 5.0.89.
But I've found a workaround:

- Make two Websites with 4.1 and 3.3.
- Do the Installation of 4.1 until the error appears.
- Use the Installation of 3, until the database is installed. You must not complete the installation.
- Restart die Installation of 4.1. Use the connection already known. Overwrite the existing database installation.
- Complete the Installation of 4.1

When the installer fails, apparently there is a manual workaround for installation:

http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Manual+Installation?bl=y&tikiversion=4.x

Sure wish I'd known about this the other day, but we have now already committed to 3.4 LTS due to spending too much time on the installer issue already, so perhaps someone else will give it a try and report back. HTH --sipiptel

Update:

There are three steps to a manual install. Sadly, it seem that the 4.1 Manual Install doc that I referenced above does not cover two of the three steps for 4.x.

The doc does cover all three steps under the 3.x version, and from these you could probably guess the steps for 4.x. However, I have not had a chance to experiment with that any further.

I have this problem too. Trying to upgrade from 2.x to 3.5 and I just keep getting the security precaution screen over and over.

I'm using PHP 5 and MySQL 5.0.67. Does it make any difference that I chose the MySQLi?

The suggested manual workaround doesn't seem to work either. I'm a little disappointed because I'm a big fan of Tiki, but if I can't get it to install there isn't much more I can do with it.
