Numerus problems with the search function

I am having a few problems with the built in search function

The main problem is that it only searches pages written in the language you are logged in, changing the "Restrict search language by default" option has no effect on search results

Switching to another language and then back will give me the search results for both those languages once but after that back to just the results in the language I am currently in

the other problem is "advanced search" clicking that gives me a :

"Request-URI Too Large

The requested URL's length exceeds the capacity limit for this server."

In addition in the main admin panel the search configuration icon is grayed out and listed as disabled, but I cannot find an option to enable it anywhere, certainly not in features where the only search related switch (Restrict search language by default) in enabled

First, please specify which Tiki version you're using. It help folks assist you. Also, if your site public, please include sample URLs....

I believe this is the default. If you have the Users can switch language option enabled, the search results page will have a filter to specify a specific langauge.

You can enable the search feature from the Admin Features page.

According to the docs and the built in help, that should not be the case if the "Restrict search language by default" is not on.

And as I said this occasionally works, something that behaves differently from time to time is not working correctly, much like the search formatting bug in 5x, that still creeps up from time to time, not as often as it did in 5x but still ....

No, there is no choice there except "MySQL Full-Text Search" which is on, the admin home still lists search as disabled
