The Tiki Log will show you when emails get sent. Please see the docs.

Use the Users can select a group to join at registration option. Please see the docs.

Can you provide a screen shot? I access Tiki sites from notebook & pocket PCs all the time.

Do you want to have a single menu option, or actually list each forum? Either way, you simply create a new menu. Please see the docs. To have a list of the latest posts, use the Forum Last Posts module.

Not sure what you mean by "edit the option." You can enable/disable the option on the Admin: Login page. Please see the docs. If you want to edit the actual text, you'll need to update the appropriate template (TPL) file.

Can you provide a URL? Try enabling the Tiki Logging and Error reporting.

I have found that some themes can obscure or not even call some page features. You have to try different ones. Know what's important to you, install a theme and check all the sections to be sure they show up like you want 'em to.

You can also change the way some things look in CSS. Sometimes you do have to edit the .php file for the page and save those changes somewhere so you can change 'em again when you upgrade.

I have never gotten any of the whose online type modules to be work right.

That said, I have found Tiki to be incredibly powerful and worth the learning curve and the occasional annoyances.

Thank you for that I shall bear it in mind. I agree tiki is great these are just config issues but the functionality is perfect

This should not happen. Tiki's themes are intended to only affect the visual appearance and not have any effect on functionality (at least the themes that come with Tiki and are available at mods.tiki.org/themes.tiki.org, etc.). If you come across a problem that seems to be due to the theme, that's a bug and should be fixed, so we appreciate it when it's reported.

I know when the emails are sent but how to edit them is the question(btw the link you sent looks nothing like the screens I get in tiki-6.1, for instance system log is not on the administration page so I assume you have to turn it on but cannot find where to do that. I have read the docs and some explanation do not fit or look anything like what I see or can do on my screen). However I am manually editing the tpl files in an editor and uploading then back so it works but tedious.

I shall when my daughter comes next as I don't have a notebook but she does and I used it to make a change when I noticed it. But the headings/sub heading are pushed all over the place usually covering the login box

Well the option seem merged on the screen as I said so I wanted to space them out a bit that is all i.e something like "Forgot your password? Register" rather than "forgot your password?register" . Just so it does not look like one option as it does now

Will do but it does not happen all the time just intermittantly but everything works so have not been too concerned. Just wondered if something was not working properly behind the scenes. Never seems to happen with a normal user just admin

Interestingly I see my number 5 has vanished which was

5) Only ever shows 1 user online when using the users online module even when I know there are more.

Thanks again

Nick

The appearance of this text is controlled by the theme stylesheet (or the base stylesheets it imports). You could add (or as changed to suit your taste):

#siteloginbar .pass,
#siteloginbar .sl-login {margin-right: 1em;}
#siteloginbar .sl-login label {margin-right: .3em;}

either as a custom.css file in /styles (will affect all themes) or in /styles/business (will affect only the Business theme, or (easiest way) in the Look and Feel admin page's custom css textarea (will affect all themes).

These properties should actually be there by default. I think they were but somehow got removed through some code evolution. 😉
