PHP in mod or CGI?

Hi there - I'm looking at site hosters about setting up an account and using Tiki. I'm getting a bit confused by the PHP offering that some of them have. When they talk about PHP sometimes they mention CGI and sometimes not.

As I understand it, PHP runs much better as an Apache module than in CGI mode, but I'm not sure what are the "official" terms to ask the right question about this. Can anyone help?

Thanx, Joel

Hi

PHP in CGI mode is not very friendly with Tiki, 1and1 hosting have this configuration and TIki will just not run there.

The PHP requirement for any host needs to be above 8Mb and if you can run TurckMMCache or some form of accelerator, even better!

TikiFriendlyHosts page, might help you in your quest.
