Slow Page Rendering

I'm having a problem that has developed suddenly.

I'm currently using 1.8.2 (plan to upgrade to 1.8.3 soon) until this morning it has been working marvelously. However, now the tiki pages are taking upwards of 30 seconds or more to load up. I have html pages in the site, and they load fine as expected, and whats strange is that I have 5 other subdomain tiki 's setup under this one installation of 1.8.2. and they are all working fine.

The index page loads up right away, but trying to login or select any other menus leads to an intolerable delay. All I was doing recently was experimenting with the css file, so I can t see that I've mucked anything up.

Can anyone shed some light?

Many thanks!

I discovered the problem...and it forced another question

I have this very forum as an rss feed in a module, and the morning that I had the problem, the rss feed was unavailable, so my site was hung up waiting for the info.

Question: Can I set a shorter timeout for something like that , that doesnt affect the timeout length for other issues like uploading files and such. ( I know I could change php execution time in the ini file, but I think thats going to make other problems worse.

Any help is appreciated!
