    Hi, couple of quick Qs regarding using the search module.

    Is search "entire site" supposed to be looking for matches in page names? eg searching for TikiFest1 returns one hit for a page that links to TikiFest1 but nothing for TikiFest1 itself. Is that what it's supposed to do? I realise one can do that kind of search with the find option from List pages but it seems to me it could be useful to include it in the entire site results as well. Am I just a lone voice ?

    Secondly how often is the search index updated? An entire site search for "Cheshire" returns a hit for TikiFestUK born 05 May 2004, modified 08 Sep 2004 but nothing for the new TikiFestUK2 created 27 Sep 2004, modifed 28 Sep 2004. However both pages do contain the search string.

    Is this just a matter of wait a while and it will match or is there some more voodoo involved ?

    HI,

    THe search index works on the principle of every X pages views it will randomly choose a page and index it. The X value can be setup in Admin->Search.

    Wanna come to TikiFestUK2?

    Hi Damian,

    Thanks for that, I totally overlooked it. Populating the search index could take a while on a site with low number of pages views then, even after reducing the X factor. Has it been considered as an option to do a refresh_index_wiki() when a page is updated/created or is it too much a hefty bit of work to churn that into the DB for every page?

    Can't be making it for TikiFestUK2, last of this years hols 😊 are getting used up next week 😢

    The easiest way is to wget a page a couple of thousand times. Yeah, there is even a wget for Windows so no complaints now 😂

    😂 That's just what we were thinking of doing. Now which page gets to be my lucky articifically popular volunteer ....
    Think I'll stick to doing it from my Linux box though, given a choice. 😉
