Container creation for Newbies

still the same purpose: attracting MANY users, not just LUGs.

Basic user philosophy proposal:

Registered is assumed to be able to post content, but not to create containers. When Registered is allowed to create container, this possiblity is only presented in the context of content creation.

Example button "Post new event", a dropdown list to chose already existing calendars, and a choice to create a new calendar.

Container creation is always presented as an option of content creation.

I don't know if that's worth something. I am inspired by collective scale implementations of Plone. People don't use the cms, because they don't know what to do with the Create New Item list.

Another feature could be that, when there is only one content in the container, the menu link should lead directly to the content.

For instance, it is likely that many sites will only have one Newsletter, therfeore:

Menu Newsletter -> Register to our Newsletter.

Same for FAQs, and the rest.

Another example:

A generic Events calendar should be created at the creation of a tikisite. When someone wishes to post an event, he/she sees "Post an event", not "In which calendar?" with only one in the list.

Generic calendar should not even have a name in the GUI: should be the calendar page and that's all. Creation of specific calendars should be an option button in that generic page.

Calendars list should appear only when the group has chosen to have several calendars. Choosing several will probably be a more rare choice than using the generic one.

Actually, as in most CMS, Tikiwiki allows you to publish Articles without having to build categories in the Articles page.

Well it should be the same for Links, Files, FAQs...

In many sites, even for advanced users, it will be convenient to add items first, and then decide to arrange them in a new category, when you observe that many items of a related nature deserve the creation of a new dedicated category.
