Group Homepages -- again

posts: 14 Germany

I have read the transcription on group homepages, but I only partially can get this to work.

Scenario:

AnonHomepage
AdministratorHomePage

User selects default page, address bar changes to
...tiki/tiki-index.php?page=AnonHomePage

The pages shows. Perfect.

User logs in as administrator, address bar changes to

.../tiki/AdminHomepage

Huh... there is no such page, so we get a "Not found"

When, without leaving the browser, I connect to tiki default page again (authentication is now valid), I get

...tiki/tiki-index.php?page=AdminHomepage

Hurray, works. So I believe my settings are right, but there is some intermediate step in the code that's wrong after login. Or do I have to do some apache redirect?

Which tiki release? I can't reproduce with 1.9CVS

What syntax did you use in the name of the group homepage? Try with the complete url, perhaps it will be better

This is the complete syntax, but I tried all versions, with http://,
without and relative.

A bug I don't understand
Is it the same if you log as admin from the default page or for another page?

I am also wondering in 1.9RC3 full cvs update will give you the last 1.9 update ...
Perhaps you can do an update with the tag BRANCH-1.9. One fix has been done in the part that interest you in august
(check if you have in tiki-login.php
$url = strpos($groupHome,'http://')===0 ? $groupHome : "tiki-index.php?page=".$groupHome;

Fully symmetric.

>>Perhaps you can do an update with the tag BRANCH-1.9.

It's a Branch-1.9 update, not from HEAD. Otherwise it would not longer be 1.9, as I see?

>>$url = strpos($groupHome,'http://')===0 ? $groupHome : "tiki-index.php?page=".$groupHome;

It's there, and the commented "this code does not work" a few lines above it. Maybe I should
reinstate the not-working code.

Currently, I am no longer testing tiki, as least temporarily. We are trying MediaWiki instead, as we don't need most of the CMS features of tiki. This is going to be a portal for collaborate edting of scientific papers, and we found the facilities to edit complex texts somewhat better there. The most important point was the possibiltiy to edit partial texts after a section break. The alternative would be to split the text apart be structuring, but we found that people don't like the amount of clicking involved, they prefer contiguous readable text.
No final decision.

The configurability of Tiki is the best of the breed, while in MediaWiki it's almost not existent. Style code in 1.3 was such a mess that I cried loud on New Year's day, but after we installed 1.4 beta we were positively surprised.
