need help edting CSS or creating new one

I've been asked to change our wiki to moreneat.css with "+" and "-" to appear in the menus instead of "::". I'm having 2 problems related to that.

1. I don't know how to change "moreneat" so it has the +/- or change another CSS that already has the +/- to look like "moreneat." I tried copying a style sheet that has the +/- already and editing it to be like "moreneat" but that failed miserably; the wiki actually ended up blank. Is there an easy way to just edit "moreneat" so it has the +/- instead of :: in the menu?
2. We've come up with a whole navigation scheme, and without creating my own module, I don't know how to implement customized nav in TikiWiki. The only way I know to edit the application_menu is to turn features off or on. But if I customize the nav, I don't know how to implement the dynamic +/- for expanding menus. Is there another way to customize what appears there?

Sorry to trouble you all, any help is appreciated.

Much obliged, Melissa

Hi there,

All you need to do is check the box in Admin-->General:

"Display menus as folders:"

Thanks so much for the pointer! That's perfect.*

Customized navigation = our own menu and menu items. The best thing would be to have the default application menu format but with us able to change the content, and I haven't seen any way to edit that. So I created my own modules, but I couldn't figure out how to set them up with categories that can expand. I only know how to do that by adding JavaScript, which I can't get to work in the navigation.

It's done on the TikiWiki, though, with the "about TikiWiki" and other links, so was that just done by creating a new module and using more than basic text and HTML in it?

  • We're still on 1.8 (or maybe 1.7, not sure) so I don't have the "tikineat" style sheet available. I'm going to see if I can just download that from tikiwiki.org and install it, because our sys admin's really busy right now and I'm not sure he'd have time to upgrade our wiki install just so we can get a new stylesheet (plus, I'm on a really tight timetable). If I can't just get that CSS, I'll talk to him about updating our wiki version. I'm open to other suggestions, if you have any.

Thanks for all your help!

Sorry to bother you, but I have a quick question about the menus. Do you know if I can do multiple levels? Example, we want a heading called Getting Started to contain a heading called Overview which houses four or five pages plus other top-level pages under Getting Started. Is that possible? If not, I'll work around it. I was just curious.

Thanks, Melissa
