Architecture / Installation

Windows XP

Is anyone running TikiWiki on a WindowsXP box?

What configuration are you using?

Is it a WAMP install?

What WAMP distribution (if any) did you use?

What versions of Apache, PHP and MySQL are you using?

Cheers Mike

Like Gary, I'm running Tiki on my local Win XP boxes for testing purposes. I use EasyPHP 1.8.0.1 with:

  • Apache 1.3.33
  • MySQL 4.1.9
  • PHP 4.3.10
  • PHPMyAdmin 2.6.1

No problems at all.

I run Tiki on my Windows XP laptop for testing, using ReactorQuestion. The current versions are PHP 5.1.2, Apache 2.0.54, mysql 4.1.7 (also installs phpMyAdmin). It includes/installs PHP-Nuke and an mp3 server called Zina, but those files can be deleted and replaced with Tiki's. I've tried EasyPHP also but for reasons I didn't look into Apache kept quitting and having to restart. Reactor has been solid. In my case, this has only been for local use.

When you say that EasyPHP kept forcing Apache to quit, exactly what where the symptoms? I just wonder if I am getting the same issue that you did.

Cheers Mike

I've used XP with EasyPHP 1.7 for an internal web-site for a while. It was ultimately changed to a gentoo linux installation running on a virtual machine on XP, as this actually gave a small performance boost.

We had no real problems with XP using WAMP however, and in many ways it was better as the skills we have in-house are all Windows, so maintenance was a cinch.
