why the WYSIWYG editor turn square brackets to hyperlink?

I like to use WYSIWYG editor to compose my wiki pages in Tikiwiki. Today I need to insert a pair of square brackets ( and ) into a page, but after saved the page, I noticed that the word contained inside the square brackets were turned to HTML hyperlink.

Why?

How can I input square brackets and display them as really square brackets?

Thanks.

Square brackets are used by Tiki Wiki to create hyperlinks. To get square brackets to display as normal text use two square brackets at the beginning and one at the end. This lets Tiki Wiki know you want the brackets to show and will not treat them as hyperlinks.

If you click on Wiki Help down below the bottom of your edit window it will open up a long list of Tiki syntax that I think you will find very useful.

Thank you jstro!

I just wonder, why Tikiwiki will try to treat symbols in the WYSIWYG editor as WIKI syntax?

I tried to use HTML Entiry to insert square brackets, but there is no definition for them.

Hi baijianpeng:

Read the documentation about the Wysiwyg Editor Admin.

There are some options to tell the wysiwyg to also parse the wiki markup, but you can disable them, afaik (or adapt to your needs; there are a couple of options that you may play with in order to suit your needs)

This is a good idea. I will look into it soon.
