Custom description area at top of individual forum page

Is there a way to create a custom description area at top of an individual forum page? For instance, to add marked up text, an extended description of what the forum is about, perhaps an image?

I don't think there's an admin method for doing that. You'd have to modify the templates/tiki-view_forum.tpl and/or templates/tiki-view_forum_thread.tpl files. This might be a good application of the dynamic content system.

Thanks for the input. I looked at the Dynamic Content System. We're actually looking for forum header content that would be fixed and different for each different forum. Purpose: explain the forum and provide pointers to related forums. We're also looking at "thread types" for this.

I'm going to take another look at making custom templates...any pointers to specific techqniques/objects that I might use there would be appreciated.

I got it. It would need a new table to store smarty text, associated with the forum page. I'd love to figure it out, but I don't have that much spare time for development. So...guess we'll find some other options. What I good idea for a future version of TW, though. I'll look at how to add it to the list.

Wow thanks, big help! Duh er uh, I mis-presumed that only plain text could go into the forum description...it seems to take formatted html just fine! Grazie grazie!
