Odd behavior on uploading new DB

I've got two TW2.1 sites, one for development (DEV), one for "experimentation" (EXP) in two folders on the same main ULR, with exactly the same TW downloads (I believe, I checked the download dates), two separate DB's.

Using phpMyAdmin (which I appreciate is supposed to be a little crude) I downloaded my DB for the DEV site and uploaded it to EXP. When I looked at the EXP site, the categories had changed in Category Admin, however, they had not changed in the Categories home page (the page accessed from the main menu for "Categories).

Also, when I click on my big "ALL" category, in the DEV site the category page for "ALL" shows the full tree structure (with the open/close -+ letters) for that category, plus the category objects. The EXP site shows the category objects without the tree structure.

I tried clearing temp internet files, refreshing page, etc. Even looked at the sites from a different computer...same problems. I looked at the two db files online and they have the same number of category records, objects per category, etc.

I can't imagine where the EXP site is getting the "old" categories to show on the Categories main menu page...could it be a old page image that the SW keeps serving?

Any suggestions on why these pages in the two sites are not identical?

Well, I copied the whole site from DEV to EXP, and that solved the problem. Any ideas on the "mystery" would be appreciated, though. Thanks!

Did you try clearing tiki's own cache? Tikiwiki tends to cache things, as well as keep a template cache. The option to clear this is under admin/system admin in the menu on the tiki site.
It is generally worth doing this whenever you see otherwise unexplained strange behaviour in tiki.

Thanks very much. I did not do that, however, I will remember that for the future. Great tip, certainly could explain what happened.
