Text overlay on images for comics

Hi, I would like to use TikiWiki to wiki-author accessible webcomics, where text paragraphs are overlaid with CSS on top of images to serve as speech bubbles.

I think this is done in HTML/CSS by embedding img and p tags in a div and then setting the position properties to relative and absolute.

Does anyone have a suggestion how this could be achieved in TikiWiki in a proper wiki fashion?

  • For instance, is there a way in TikiWiki to mark individual paragraphs as belonging to a special CSS class and add some CSS layout offsets? I could then author a template that would set the position properties and add a div parent.
  • Or is there maybe a way to nest plugins so that I could write a plugin which takes ready-made paragraphs and images and modifies them?

(My concern is that my non-CSS-savvy fellow artists wouldn't want to hack every panel together in code. Pure templates probably won't quite cut it, so I posted in the dev forum.)

Please throw me some starting points. Any input will be appreciated. :-)

Many thanks in advance!

OMG, you are geniuses. This is what i was looking for. Thanks!

I'll play around with it a little, and try to transform the annotations into speech bubbles.

One thing I found that I'd like to change is that the editing functions aren't hidden even a user isn't logged in (WYSIWYCA). How do you check for edit rights from within a Tiki plugin?

Regards,

I've just installed Tiki 5.0, and it seems that the PluginAnnotation has lost its ability to save the annotations. sad Does anybody already know about this, or should I file a bug?

If the PluginAnnotation cannot be used as a working reference any more, are there other plugins that implement custom edit modes or custom save buttons?
