Code Constantly Breaking

I need some help (obviously).

Every time I try to implement something useful into my wiki, Tiki does everything in its power to break it. I was told a while back that Tiki has a built in "feature" that will break any HTML that it thinks is harmful (iframe, object, etc.). And, the best part of this "feature": there's no way to turn it off! Excellent...

Actually, it's pretty rediculous. I don't feel that I need to be protected from myself. I was hoping that 3.0 would implement a means to switch this on or off, but I don't see it.

Does anyone know how to make this stop? I'm tired of everything breaking on me, on purpose. I appreciate that someone is trying to implement some protection from this (not really), but I need it to stop. It's hindering me on a daily basis, and it has never once helped me.

Please! Someone help me. Thank you.

I had the same problem with IFrames and you need a plug in. Then you also need to tweak the syntax a little -you can't just pop it in unaltered.

See
http://doc.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=PluginIframe&structure=Documentation
for iframe plug in for 3.0 (it looks like the plug in may now come with a 3.0 tiki install).

For older versions you'll need to download a file and upload it to a directory in your Tiki install before the in-page Iframe syntax will work:
http://tikiwiki.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/tikiwiki/trunk/lib/wiki-plugins/wikiplugin_iframe.php.

This last links to a page that actually has the code so you'll need to copy it and paste it in a new doc to upload. See this thread for more info on installing it:
http://tikiwiki.org/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?forumId=4&comments_parentId=29608&thread_sort_mode=commentDate_desc&was_queued=n

Try http://doc.tikiwiki.org/tiki-index.php?page=Wiki%20Plugins for many more plug ins.

I have the iframe plugin, and even now, every single page that has the iframe plugin usage, I need to have an admin allow the plugin to be used. This is not a solution, it's another problem. There are hundreds of pages that use the iframe plugin, and having to allow every one individually is not "ideal."

But there's nothing for objects, not that I've found. I need to embed some objects into my pages to make them actually worth using, but I can't do it.

I don't want plugins, I want to turn this code-breaker OFF. Completely off. There has to be a way to do it.

The way wiki plugins are managed was overhauled for Tiki 3 to have better security and fewer bugs, but obviously there's still some work to do, for it to be more user friendly and efficient.

About objects, have you tried using the HTML plugin? I had trouble using the Mediaplayer plugin (in my experience it works in Firefox but a bug prevents .fla files from playing in Opera and IE), so copied the page source output of the Mediaplayer plugin and wrapped it in the HTML plugin and it works. Something like that could be worth a try.

I tried the HTML plugin. The plugin itself worked, but it still stripped out the "ob" part of the "object" HTML code.

I got around my problem by placing the object into a separate HTML file, then inserting it into the wiki page in an iframe, via the iframe plugin. It works for this instance, but I still need a way to shut off the code-breaker (or whatever it's referred to as).
