Changing Favicon

Hi All;

Scratch this post, it seems to work well now. I tried to change the favicon few time and nothing. I post to the forum, try it again, then surprise, it works. I'm confused and having a helping of crow right now.

Me again. How do I change the favicon.png or favicon.ico file. I have gone to the Other tab of the Look and Feel page and tried to change the Favicon icon file name: field, shown in the attached file.

Nothing happens.

Where should this file be located, the icon file? Should it be in the root directory of the install or an "image" directory? Are there backups of the file that have to be changed too?

For the present, all I want to do is to change the favicon file and work my way toward changing the rest of the theme later, as I get more experience.

Thanks All.

Carter

Well, to me it doesn't.

The favicon code is still broken. Here on 12.2. there is still no declaration that is IE compliant, so IE loads the favicon it finds on the domain root directory and ignores the one in the subdirectory that contains the Tiki. And there is no declaration of the file format, which is mandatory...

Your post is a couple of year old, but so are Tikis favicon problems...

Oliver

Just in case someone with knowledge of the Tiki code does read this:

The settings in Tiki 12.2 are:
Favicon
Favicon Dateiname des Symbols:
http://mydomain/tiki/favicon.icoQuestion
Favicon MIME-Typ:
image/vnd.microsoft.com

Which produce this code:
link rel="icon" href="http://mydomain/tiki/favicon.ico"
(I omitted the delimiters of this line of code, because this might confuse this forum.

To my understanding of IEs understanding of favicon this should have been:
LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="http://mydomain/tiki/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon"

At least with this code my hand-coded self-written calendar produces the correct favicon out of the correct subdirectory, and does not use the one from the domains root...
