Well, I'm confused now. If you restored to your original 2.2, then the admin page version number is correct? Is ))SimpleScripts(( still indicating some other version number? I don't understand what the current situation is.
Back at your original 2.2, is the site functioning OK, or are you getting errors?
There's normally no problem with upgrading from 2.4 to 3.1 instead of 3.0. It isn't necessary to upgrade to each version sequentially. I've upgraded sites from 1.9 to 3.0 a few times without a hitch, for example.
TikiWiki's installer is actually quite simple and smooth, so it's not really something to dread, if it comes to that. But you do need to know how to download the TikiWiki package, unzip it, and upload the files with FTP. If that sounds too daunting, then I guess working with ))SimpleScripts(( is the only way.
