Specify URL with user name and password to login

I have a secure site that I would like to point my users towards when they need to access documentation. The tiki will house the documentation. Access to the tiki needs to be restricted from non-authorized users, but if the user is on my secure site, I know that they are authorized.

I tried using the following URL
...tiki-login.php?user=abc&pass=xyz

I get an error message about needing to have cookies turned on.

So, the bottom line question: Can I specific a link in my secure application that will automatically login my users to see content without having to register a new account?

This sounds like a problem that could be solved by including authorized users into a group that has access to the part of the site mentioned. Upon entering the documentation area, only users belonging to the authorized group will be able to see/edit the docs. This depends upon the permissions you have granted to the group within that part of the site. I don't believe a specialized link is necessary, or even possible (definitely not desirable) in this way.

Am I understanding the problem correctly?
