Centralized Styles

I was just wondering why the style files aren't each centrally located. For example, with fivealive we have:

  • /styles/fivealive/
  • /styles/fivealive.css
  • /templates/styles/fivealive/

It just seems it would seriously simplify things to have each style centrally located along the lines of:

  • /styles/fivealive/
  • /styles/fivealive/css/
  • /styles/fivealive/templates/

or something similar. Is there a reason the developers chose to go this route rather than centralizing the styles that I'm not understanding? I'm not trying to be nit-picky beyond wanting to help with the development of tiki. I'm just trying to wrap my mind around the development methodology here so that I may submit potential improvements as my abilities permit. 😛

Hi QBass:

I guess (I was not there when it was designed) because there are a set of default (smarty) templates for Tiki to work with any style, and only the style-specific templates (if any) are under that folder under ./styles/fivealive/templates.

Does this answer your question?

Actually that question came up recently on IRC #tikiwiki, and the thinking was the current arrangement could be something to look at and change if there's a more logical or convenient way.
